As we celebrate the 2024 International Women's Day, themed "Inspire Inclusion," we are reminded of the impact that advocating for women's inclusion has on shaping a more equitable and empowered society.

In light of this theme, we had the privilege of sitting down with four remarkable women from the Wilson team to delve into their experiences on working in the construction industry and how an inclusive environment is fostered in the business.

Hayley Kelly, Project Coordinator

"Wilson actively creates inclusive environments encouraging us employees to establish relationships with one another. Whether this be during cake day celebrations, fun Friday drinks or during a more formal meeting held between departments, working together to achieve the same goal. I feel everyone is equally included in discussions and given the opportunity to express themselves".

"My favourite thing about working the construction industry as a woman is the opportunity to break stereotypes, challenge myself in a traditionally male-dominated field and contribute to shaping the building industry in meaningful ways".

Kristy Hunt, Operations Manager

"While majority of the construction industry is male dominated, I feel passionate about inspiring and empowering woman to progress within the roles they play in the industry. I’m excited to see more women step into senior leadership positions from our business as well as the wider construction industry and I am confident they will provide a fresh perspective on how we operate within our field".

"My favourite part of working in the construction industry as a woman is the chance to be a part of positive change and to inspire others to pursue their passions, regardless of any preconceived notions or barriers they may face. Through collaboration, innovation, and a commitment to inclusivity, we can continue to push boundaries and shape a more equitable and diverse future for the construction industry".
