We’re so pleased that we did build with Wilson Homes

When Maureen and Barry Browning decided to downsize in 2017, it wasn’t Wilson Homes’ designs that initially caught their eye. They were looking for a smaller house or block of land when they came across a piece of land in New Town’s recently developed Garrington Park.

“It was the land we wanted, not necessarily Wilson Homes at the time,” said Maureen. “But when we were told the land belonged to Wilson Homes, we jumped in and said, ‘That’s the one we want’.”

Maureen and Barry instantly fell in love with the Wilson Homes designs, and after consulting with their family, decided upon the Venice Professional. The two-bedroom, two-bathroom design was perfect for the couple, offering open plan living in the common areas, as well as privacy for themselves and their guests in the separate sleeping wings.

“It’s the best of both worlds. We often have guests stay with us and when the grandchildren come over they’ve got their own area as well. We loved the design instantly because it just had everything we wanted.”

Maureen and Barry were no strangers to the challenge of building a new home when they embarked on the project. Having built 50 years ago as newlyweds, they expected some teething issues but found the build process with Wilson Homes to be quite simple.

“It was really easy. In the first home we built we had a hassle. The garage was too small, and we couldn’t get the car in! So, we were pleasantly surprised this time.”

The build was an exciting time for the couple who visited the block regularly to check on the progress. They often drove from their previous home in Primrose Sands to New Town just to see the latest development or addition.

While the home was being constructed, Maureen and Barry visited the MyChoice Design Studio in Hobart. Here, the expert design team assisted them in making the home their own, selecting the fixtures, flooring, colours and appliances all under the one roof.

“The designer was very good, and understood exactly what we wanted,” said Maureen. “At one stage we had the carpet options laid out, the tiles laid out, everything laid out on the floor, so we could mix and match and make sure it all worked together. We’re really happy with the finishing touches.”

“We’re so pleased that we did build with Wilson Homes. They were easy to deal with, they’ve gone above and beyond and we’re very happy with our home. Our grandchildren drop in all the time and we see them so much more - we’re making memories here now.”
