The North-West economy has been given a significant boost following the investment made by Southern building company Wilson Homes.
Tasmanian Premier Lara Giddings officially opened Wilson Homes’ new office in Mount St, Burnie, and it will provide employment opportunities and housing options for families across the region. Ms Giddings said Wilson Homes’ decision to invest in Burnie was a sign of confidence in the region’s growth prospects.
“This is a difficult time for the construction industry in Tasmania, and Wilson Homes’ investment in the North-West is both a welcome show of confidence in the region and a much needed boost, with the company expected to engage 150 local contractors.
The expansion of Wilson Homes to Burnie is a sign of further confidence in the North West economy, the Premier, Lara Giddings, said today.
Ms Giddings officially opened Wilson Homes’ new office in Burnie, which will provide employment opportunities and housing options for families across the region.
The Tasmanian family-owned company was established in southern Tasmania in 1989 and employs over 29 full-time staff and engages over 350 various subcontractors.
Tasmania’s largest residential Builder has been awarded a significant Defence Housing Tender for the construction of residential dwellings on Hobart’s Eastern Shore.
Wilson Homes Manager Ben Wilson today said “The Defence Housing tender is a significantproject for the company and would see the engagement of over 200 contractors and suppliers. The project to be carried out in Glebe Hill Estate is part of increased demand for Housing in Tasmania.”
Tasmanian Family owned and operated Building Company WILSON HOMES has donated all proceeds from the sale of its latest Display Home at Brighton to Common Ground Tasmania. Through the generous support of Wilson Homes, it’s trade contractors and many suppliers, over $50,000.00 has been raised to help support homeless and underprivileged Tasmanians through the Common Ground Tasmanian Model.
Common Ground Tasmania’s Managing Director, Elizabeth Thomas said, “the donation received from Wilson Homes will go a long way towards the set up cost within two new Buildings currently under construction at Campbell Street and Liverpool Street Hobart, These two Buildings, due to be open in early 2012, will provide accommodation and rehabilitation facilities for over 90 currently homeless and under privileged Tasmanians”.
A new subdivision aimed at helping more people into the property market has been released in Shorewell Park.
Human Services Minister Cassy O’Connor said housing Tasmania currently has 10 blocks of land available for sale at Nothrop Court, Shorewell Park through the State Government’s HomeShare program.
“Eligible purchasers can get assistance from HomeShare and receive a further discount of $2500 on the purchase price of the land in Nothrop Court.
